Learning and support

As a fully selective high school, Sydney Boys High must provide rigorous stimuli for students across a range of curricular and co-curricular areas. Additionally, several programmes are in place to further intellectually stimulate and challenge our gifted student base. This section of the website gives additional information about these programmes together with information about curriculum areas

High potential and gifted education

Why choose us for your high potential or gifted child?

Recognising potential and developing talent

Our teachers find potential and nurture our students to be the best they can be.

Tailored lessons

Each student has different abilities. Teachers respond to each student’s ability by providing extra challenges and extension activities to keep learning exciting and engaging.

Rich opportunities and activities

Students can take part in opportunities to develop their talent in the arts, sport, leadership and more.

Opening doors to wider experiences

Our students can participate in a wide range of state-wide opportunities that aim to extend and enrich student potential.

High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.

We do this through:

School HPGE programs

Religion and Ethics

NSW public schools have obligations under the  Education Act 1990  pertaining to the provision of instruction in religion and ethics. For further information refer to the NSW Department of Education website: https://education.nsw.gov.au/teaching-and-learning/curriculum/learning-across-the-curriculum/religion-and-ethics.

Ethics is embedded into our curriculum at Sydney Boys High School. Students study ethics in our Values Education program.
